Chamonix skiing
The Chamonix valley has 5 main ski sectors.
Brévent – Flégère has a height of 1030m to 2525m and has some good intermediate skiing on its south facoing slopes – terrain that also looks over to Mont Blanc and the Aiguille du Midi peak. The sector is made up of 2 areas which are linked by cable car.
Les Grands Montets is the ski area above the village of Argentière and offers the toughest sking in the Chamonix valley with a top height of 3275m on the Argentière Glacier. The skiing is steep and rugged and its high-altitude, north -facing slopes are some of the most snow-reliable in the valley. The off-piste is fantastic.
Aiguille du Midi is an iconic tower of rock that is visible high above Chamonix. The top station is a whopping 3842m with the world-famous Vallée Blanche off-piste ski route descending back to the town at 1035m.
Les Houches offers tree-lined intermediate skiing between 950m and 1900m, whilst at the opposite end of the valley 3. Domaine de Balme offers similar beginner and intermediate skiing with a top height of 2270m, close to the Swiss border.
Chamonix apres ski
Chamonix après ski is some of the best in France. Action often starts on the terrace of La Folie Douce, located directly at the bottom of the valley ski slope. Fire basket tables and theatre are on offer in this iconic location.
Chambre Neuf offers the most atmospheric experience in the town, with masses crammed into the venue. The main pedestrianised street of Chamonix is packed with people and bars and the action can last until late.
Chamonix ski school
Ski schools in Chamonix offer instruction on the slopes and guiding in the high-alpine and off-piste terrain. Guides are highly recommended for ski routes such as the Vallée Blanche and the off-piste terrain in Les Grands Montets area.

Chamonix transfers
With a transfer time of around 90 minutes, most of which is straight motorway, Chamonix is one of the best transfers from Geneva airport.
Chamonix for non-skiers
Chamonix is one of the great mountain destinations for non-skiers in the world. It has a fantastic town centre, with shops, bars and entertainment. The Aiguille du Midi is one of the most thrilling top lift stations anywhere and offers the non-skier a real appreciation of the high-altitude world. There are lookout platforms with views over the vast glaciers and the Mont Blanc peak, as well as the step into the void, glass-bottomed platform. Scenic flights, spa days, snowshoe walks, ice skating, paragliding and winter walks are all possible for non-skiers in Chamonix.
